We decided for our first blog we would talk about the most popular dog video in YouTube land – the Ultimate Dog Tease. In the video, an owner taunts his dog with promises of food only to reveal that he has already eaten the meal. As of the 10/05/12 this video has accumulated 106,082,568 hits on YouTube which in itself it a phenomenal number of hits. We also noticed that it received 6,297 dislikes, how we ask could anyone dislike this video??? In comparison to the number of likes (432,791) I guess it is really insignificant.
Here are some interesting facts about Clark the Dog and this viral video:
The video was posted on YouTube on the 1st of May 2011 (yes that means in little over a year over 100 million people have heard this dog been teased)
The dogs name is Clark Griswold a Dutch Shepherd mix rescue dog who lives in Colorado.
Clark was used for an advert for Pizza Hut Canada to promote their new Ultimate Stuffed Crust pizza (it is reported that no dogs went hungry during the filming)
Andrew Grantham who voiced the video never met Clark when making the video but created the video after Clark's owners sent him the clip.
if you loved this video then there is great news – Andrew Grantham & Pets are back with the "Ultimate Cat Tease" which was posted on YouTube on the 12/04/2012 and has already amassed 676,031 hits within a few weeks.
It is reported that Paramount has hired Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm writers Alec Berg and David Mandel to write a script based on this video to be made into a feature film
The "Ultimate" question is will a feature film based on this video work?? Surely we have seen it all before with talking dogs in films such as Beverly Hills Chihuahua (released in 2008) and Marmaduke (released in 2010) so does this mean it will be flop or a huge success?
One thing is for sure this feature film of dogs talking for approximately a hour and a half will need to be witty and engaging or else the amusement factor will ware off after the 1 minute and 21 second length of the video we are all used of watching and laughing to. On the other hand if they can pull off this there is serious money to be made for the writers, producers etc. ie. over 100 million views x average ticket price for a cinema ticket = Use your imagination!!
I hope that this does make it to the big screen as Clark the Dog has big plans with "Clark for President" on the top banner of his website (President for Animal Aid of the United States that is) Either way this famous dog can only do good for rescue dogs and dogs worldwide so Clark the Dog you have got our vote and best of luck with the with the campaign and we hope to see you on the big screen some day.
For those have never seen the "Ultimate Dog Tease" or would like to watch it again (just because it is that good and if you’re having a bad day its helps!!) you can watch it below.
