The Barkley is owned and run by Karen O’Rourke. Karen is a full professional member of APDT Ireland (Association of Pet Dog Trainers). APDT is a worldwide professional organisation, with Dr Ian Dunbar as a founding member. Karen is a qualified Dog Trainer DIpCIT APDT and is also a qualified Canine First responder instructor. For all dogs, young puppies, dogs re-homed or a dog that wants to learn more Karen runs one to one training sessions in your own home, where all the family can benefit from the sessions. Karen will explain how dogs actually learn and help owners understand their dogs needs better, both emotionally and physically. Unlike humans, our dogs understand the world through their noses firstly, with their ears secondly, and then with their eyes. We tend to forget that dogs don’t speak English! However they do have their own language. Dogs language it is a visual and not verbal one like ours. Karen will show you how to bridge the gap between our verbal and their visual language, so that you and your dog are communicating and having fun with each other.
